clambake weddings McGrath Clambakes

Because Newport is a wedding destination, many couples opt to invite all of their guests to their rehearsal dinner as well as their wedding reception. A clambake is a fun event, especially for guests traveling from out of town, to experience. In addition to the beautiful mansions, Newport offers a myriad of unique sites to hold a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. The casemates at Fort Adams (shown in the background of the photo at right) recently opened for functions. The parade field is a great place for guests to mingle during a reception hour and children to run about. The old fort has been restored and makes a unique place to gather for dinner.
Another child-friendly locale is the Rotunda at Easton's Beach. An old fashioned carousel may be rented by the hour. We've found that young and old enjoy taking a ride on its colorful horses.

Sports enthusiasts might check out the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The gazebo overlooks some of America's oldest grass tennis courts and a sporting museum may be toured prior to a reception hour.

There are several beautiful vineyards in the area. Newport Vineyards is minutes away from downtown Newport while Sakonnet Vineyards is a little further away in the quaint Little Compton, RI.

The Eisenhower House served as a Summer White House for Dwight D. Eisenhower and is a beautiful place for an outdoor reception with sweeping views of the bay and Newport Pell Bridge. Also available for rent in Fort Adams is the North Lawn which is located outside the Fort's casemates with a stunning backdrop of the bridge and Jamestown.
